This project was a complete "to-the-studs" kitchen remodel designed for a homeowner ready to leave the past behind. The original space was a dark, cramped galley kitchen that felt disconnected from the rest of the home. The goal was clear: ditch the shadows and create a bright, modern Scandinavian-inspired hub that felt both expansive and inviting. The first step in this transformation was structural. By opening up the floorplan and removing restrictive walls, we were able to introduce a massive central island. This became the heart of the home—a multi-functional centerpiece perfectly suited for large-scale entertaining, holiday prep work, and casual morning coffee. To achieve that signature "Scandi" vibe, we utilized a crisp, monochromatic palette. We installed classic white shaker cabinetry throughout, paired with stunning white quartz countertops that reflect the natural light. To complete the professional look, we integrated a full suite of high-end stainless steel appliances that stand out beautifully against the clean white finishes. One of the most striking features of this remodel is the ceiling architecture. We chose to preserve the home’s original rustic beams to maintain a sense of history and character. By adding fresh white drywall between the beams and installing high-efficiency recessed can lighting, we bridged the gap between traditional charm and modern brightness. We believe that great design should be as functional as it is beautiful. For this project, we included several "Chef-approved" customizations: We built custom wine storage directly into the island, keeping the homeowner's collection accessible but tucked away. We positioned a deep, professional-grade workstation sink directly under the window, turning every-day prep work into a scenic experience. The result is a total transformation that took a forgotten galley and turned it into a "functional and fabulous" Scandinavian retreat.
