This project was a comprehensive, whole-home renovation where the primary goal was to seamlessly blend a modern, sophisticated upgrade with the home’s inherent rustic character and charming simplicity. Our dedicated team, in close collaboration with the interior designer, successfully transformed this dated ski lodge from a dark, enclosed space into a warm, inviting retreat defined by a contemporary rustic aesthetic. To establish a bright, cohesive foundation, we began by installing new, continuous flooring throughout the entire house. Significant structural and aesthetic changes were made downstairs: we replaced all existing wall surfaces with smooth drywall and finished them with fresh, light paint, instantly expanding and brightening the area. Furthermore, a crucial element of the structural redesign involved raising the loft area, immediately creating a more functional and spacious main living area beneath it. The most transformative areas were the key living spaces. The original fireplace, which was previously an outdated eyesore, received a stunning makeover. We clad the surround in beautiful new stone and topped it with a substantial mantle, successfully reinstating it as the undisputed focal point of the entire home. In the custom-designed kitchen, we moved away from the traditional dark wood cabinets. We opted for a striking contrast with deep blue cabinetry, paired with crisp, bright white countertops and sleek stainless steel appliances for a touch of modern refinement. Complementing the aesthetic across the home, all new light fixtures were carefully selected for their modern farmhouse appeal, providing soft, warm illumination. Understanding the practical needs of a ski house, we custom-built a highly functional mudroom, featuring ample, dedicated storage designed specifically for ski equipment and outdoor gear. Finally, the interior designer collaborated closely with the homeowner, ensuring all furniture and décor selections perfectly complemented the renovated structure and enhanced the overall contemporary rustic aesthetic. The result is a warm, high-functioning, and stylish mountain escape—a transformation that is truly remarkable and ready for decades of enjoyment.
