We recently wrapped up a total bathroom transformation in a local Vermont ski home, and we are officially obsessed with the results. This project was a perfect example of how we combine deep structural "wellness" with high-end aesthetic finishes. The original bathroom felt cramped and transitional due to having two separate entrances. To truly optimize the space, we closed up one of the doors, allowing us to reclaim valuable wall space and create a much more private, intentional layout. This single architectural change allowed the entire room to breathe and gave us the footprint needed for a more luxurious design. This was a full-scale demolition, which allowed us to address the hidden issues common in older mountain homes. We went behind the scenes to remediate ant and rodent activity within the walls and under the flooring, ensuring the new space isn't just beautiful, but completely safe, fresh, and structurally sound for years to come. The original layout felt cramped and dated. By removing the old, dingy bathtub, we reclaimed the square footage to create a stunning custom walk-in shower with a beautiful pebble floor. This shift also allowed us to build out a dedicated, custom-built linen closet, providing the storage that every vacation home needs. To maximize every inch of the footprint, we integrated two recessed medicine cabinets for a flush, clean look, a classic pedestal sink to keep the floor plan feeling open and shiplap wainscoting finished in a soft, warm grey for a cozy, modern-farmhouse aesthetic. Because this is a Vermont ski home, comfort was a top priority. We installed Wi-Fi-controlled radiant floor heating, allowing the homeowners to turn up the warmth during their travels so the bathroom is toasted and ready the moment they arrive. To round out the character of the room, we added a "fun moment" with unique hardware: reclaimed vintage cast iron hooks paired with adorable brass bunny hooks. These thoughtful touches turned a functional room into a true sanctuary.
