Stepping into this basement bathroom for the first time, we were faced with a challenge: a dark, multi-leveled, and undeniably outdated space, complete with heavy, dark tile and a bulky vanity. The homeowner’s vision was crystal clear—they desired a bathroom that felt light, airy, and truly modern, embracing a sleek Scandinavian aesthetic with a subtle touch of contemporary glam. Our journey began with a complete overhaul of the structure. To achieve the airy, open feel the client wanted, we reclaimed crucial square footage by strategically reconfiguring the walls and borrowing space from the adjacent boiler room. The shower is now the undisputed star of the room, designed for luxurious function. It features an impressive six-foot-long shower niche and dual shower heads for a spa-like experience. Functionality was paramount: we placed the diverter conveniently near the entrance, allowing you to turn on the water without stepping into a cold spray. All fixtures and hardware are finished in a sophisticated brushed bronze for an upscaled, warm, and cohesive look. To introduce warmth, we selected freestanding vanity and linen cabinets in light, warm wood tones, beautifully offsetting the crisp white tile work. The final layer of elegance was added with the homeowner's request for an accent wall. We chose a fun yet elegant fluted tile design placed behind the smart toilet. This texture-rich feature provides both visual warmth and sophisticated depth to the minimalist space. The final result is nothing short of spectacular. Every element was carefully considered, proving once again that the devil is truly in the details when crafting a personalized, functional, and beautiful design.
