This project is a perfect example of how strategic, "smart" design can transform a standard footprint into a high-functioning space that grows with a family. Designed specifically for a child's bathroom, the priority was to balance durability and ease of use with a fresh, modern aesthetic—all while staying within a targeted budget. The homeowners opted for a classic, space-saving tub and shower combination, which remains the most versatile choice for a family with young children. To elevate the daily experience, we moved beyond the basic showerhead and installed a professional-grade handheld shower with an adjustable slide bar. This allows for effortless bathing at any height, making it a "grow-with-them" solution that is as practical for a toddler’s bath time as it is for a teenager’s morning routine. One of the most effective ways we managed the project budget was by retaining the existing vanity. The "bones" of the cabinetry were in excellent condition, so rather than a costly full replacement, we performed a high-impact "refresh." By installing a brand-new, custom solid surface countertop and sleek, modern hardware, we gave the piece an entirely new identity. This "upcycling" approach allowed us to allocate more of the budget toward high-quality flooring and plumbing fixtures. To add a layer of personality to the small space, we chose a hexagon tile floor. The geometric pattern adds a touch of "playful interest" and architectural texture without overwhelming the room. The result is a bathroom that feels intentional, clean, and significantly more expensive than the original builder-grade finishes. What started as a basic, utilitarian room is now a bright, durable, and highly functional space that the family will enjoy for years to come.
